While studying for a music degree at the University of Minnesota he played a 73-key Fender Rhodes suitcase electric piano for an R&B band performing classic R&B hits.
After taking a break from the music scene in New York he decided to move to Southern California. Shortly after arriving he joined a classic rock band that featured a horn section. The horn section allowed the band to be versatile and play a large array of songs without horns couldn't play.
After joining Lyvyn Skynyrd Dan quickly developed an appreciation for Billy Powell's keyboard contributions to Lynyrd Skynyrd's music. He enjoys playing the challenge of playing the extensive range of styles and sounds that is the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
