Ernie a native Southern Californian, was musically inclined at a very young age. His first calling was to play the drums. It wasn't long before he earned enough money to purchase a set of drums. He began to take interest in some of the best drummers in rock in John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Stewart Copeland (The Police) and Clem Burke (Blondie).

He joined a local band called "Shel Shoc" and they performed their own music and played several times in Hollywood on the Sunset Strip. As the music scene evolved, he joined a ska-punk band called "Schleprock". During this time he demonstrated strong writing skills and the ability to so sing backing vocals. The band produced two CD's "Propeller" and "Out of Spite". Warner Brothers records signed the band to a contract. They recorded "America's little secret' which featured the single "Suburbia" and in addition to getting airplay on the local radio stations, the video made it to MTV.

Ernie decided to take a break from the grind of the music business and start a family. It wasn't long however and the family life switched gears as the Tribute Band scene began to emerge. Ernie found his voice singing Van Halen songs and sounding a lot like David Lee Roth. Next he found himself fronting a Van Halen tribute band that he and a few of his friends started called Hollywood Halen.

Out of nowhere, a casting call came in for Ernie to sing for a well known and established Van Halen tribute band. With continued perseverance, Ernie became the lead singer for the band. Since 2011 Ernie has graced countless stages in various cities and countries portraying one of rock and roll's favorite lead front men in David Lee Roth.

Word got out prior to Eddie Van Halen's untimely death that he was searching local tribute bands to find his next singer and that he no longer wanted David Lee Roth to front Van Halen. He came across videos of Ernie and word has it Ernie was one of three singers Eddie was considering to be his lead singer.

As it turns out Ernie has always admired and respected the singing of Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame. In fact, Ronnie is actually one of Ernie's all time favorite singers. He has stated that singing Lynyrd Skynyrd songs is his new calling. It is now a pleasure to introduce Mr. Ernie Berru as our lead singer portraying Ronnie Van Zant with Simple Man, a tribute to the early years of Lynyrd Skynyrd. We look forward to the energy he will be bringing to every performance.
